About the Funder's Learning Visit
Coordinated every other year, IHRFG’s Funders’ Learning Visit to Geneva, Switzerland offers participating grantmakers a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn how the United Nations human rights system can help solve pressing human rights problems at the national level.
During the three-day visit, participants will:
- Receive an introduction to the UN system and Geneva-based UN human rights instruments
- Engage with human rights leaders inside and outside the UN system, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay
- Attend meetings of UN human rights bodies, such as the Universal Periodic Review and Committee against Torture
- Participate in workshops, debates and other discussions on human rights issues, the workings of UN human rights bodies, and advocacy efforts of NGOs working in Geneva
- Connect with European donor colleagues to gain a better understanding of the European human rights funding landscape and the relevance of the UN system to their grantmaking
Read the trip agenda.
On this visit, IHRFG is welcoming the participation of Ariadne-European Human Rights Funders Network. Ariadne aims broadly to promote and deepen the impact of human rights philanthropy in Europe. Participants will have an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with their trans-Atlantic colleagues.

Conference participants will be asked to agree to a non-solicitation policy when registering.
